Planning is key for your career, personal goals and when you lift the dryer over your head

I picked up some good advice in an unexpected place the other evening.

“Make a plan for what you are going to do before it happens,” was the advice from my friend, Roy The Umpire.

Roy is a very wise man who shares the same middle name as several significant historical figures. I can only assume that he has a family connection to Alexander The Great, Attila The Hun and Dog The Bounty Hunter. I have no reason to believe that the dog would have peed on the floor

Earlier this month, some members of my family claimed that the dog peed on the floor.

During a recent historic summit/nap, I sat down with Scooter the dog and discussed this issue, along with other amazing and incredible topics that I can’t talk about. Here are some of the results of our discussion: Continue reading “I have no reason to believe that the dog would have peed on the floor”

Tales of a good and bad summer weekend

It was a good news/bad news kind of weekend. Here are a few examples:

I finally got the hedges trimmed again so that they look nice. It was a lot of work, but I feel pretty good about it.

Along with trimming the hedges, I also trimmed the poison ivy hidden in the backyard. I feel pretty itchy about it

It finally stopped raining and it looks beautiful outside.

It’s too hot to actually go outside. It’s so hot that when I was taking a shower earlier today, I ran out of cold water. Continue reading “Tales of a good and bad summer weekend”

Job interview questions can result in some strange responses

  • Why should we choose you over the other candidates for this position?

Here are their responses: Continue reading “Job interview questions can result in some strange responses”

And while the national media “experts,” continue to ignore this option, it’s clear that the best team for LeBron James to join this summer is my rec softball team. Continue reading “Top 5 Reasons That LeBron James Should Sign With My Rec Softball Team”

Finally, a column about chip clips!

Today I would like to discuss with you an important topic that I have spent way too much time thinking about recently.

That topic, of course, is chip clips. I’m sure most of you have been thinking about this topic as well.

I love the way chip clips help to keep bags of chips fresh, but even more than that, I love the name Chip Clip.

Chip clip, chip clip, chip clip!

It’s fun to say, and I often find myself interjecting it into tongue twisters and songs. For example: Continue reading “Finally, a column about chip clips!”

Pets provide me with unconditional love! (Except when they are annoyed with me)

The pets at my house are often annoyed with me.

We have a small dog and a small cat in our family, and they bring us incredible amounts of joy and hair.

And while I know they love us and appreciate how we feed them, house them and assist them in different ways, I often notice how I seem to be annoying them. Here are a few examples: Continue reading “Pets provide me with unconditional love! (Except when they are annoyed with me)”
