Top 5 Reasons This is a Bad Headline (not counting that I don’t actually have five reasons)

Writing headlines can be tricky.

Sometimes I feel like I have the perfect headline to draw readers in, and other times I struggle to find any suitable title so that I can post my article.

New year’s resolutions for my blog

Now that we are two days into 2018, I have put together a few new year’s resolutions for my blog.

I am sharing them here in case any of them are helpful to you, and so that they will be a reminder to me of how I am trying to improve.

Be timely – Don’t wait until two days after the event before posting on topics. I want to post early about upcoming events, but I guess I am already struggling at this one. I will try to do better with this in 2018, or 2019 at the latest. Continue reading “New year’s resolutions for my blog”

A week away from blogging

Ok, so I was was too busy at work last week and never had the opportunity to put together a good post.

“Now Nick, when do you ever put together a good post?” you may be saying to yourself.

I would agree, but would add that I didn’t even have time to write a post that I liked very much. I ended up working late every day and then traveling on the weekend, so here I am getting some posts ready tonight.

I have nothing to write about today.

I apologize but nothing very interesting has happened to me recently and my work on the Top Five Kirks is stuck at a standstill. Our judges are divided over this controversial topic due to a cornucopia outstanding Kirks. Who should be No. 1?

You can take your take anywhere, but you can’t take it here

While many people take the word “take” for granted, it is a surprisingly complex and confusing word that requires you to take great care.

For example, did you know that take is both a verb and a noun?

Did you also know that people constantly are using the word incorrectly?

And finally, can you believe that most people don’t thank me when I correct them?

When I started this blog, I often pondered questions like:

Triple word compound words may be confusing, nonetheless, they should be used more nowadays

What’s better than an ordinary compound word?

Well, I can easily think of hundreds of items, but for this column the answer is compound words that are made up of three words.

Heretofore you may not have thought much about these words, nevertheless I will explain my love for them inasmuch as possible so that whosoever reads this will also love these words forevermore.

A super blog to check out, and the formation of a new Just Us League

LEWcharter (1)The internet is full of great blogs and I wanted to take a moment to promote a blog that I have been enjoying reading recently.

The blog is Not That You Asked and it is full of information about topics that you did not ask about, but you most likely will wish you would have. The author, Andy, is funny and interesting, and has recently discussed topics such as observations from a Texas vacation and the life of a third-string high school quarterback. He also has a poignant article about the day his father died, and then undied.

Just like Kyrie Irving, I am requesting a trade

While much of the sports world has been debating the merits NBA star Kyrie Irving’s surprising request for a trade, I have decided to also request a trade.

Irving is one of my favorite players, and I’m sure that he would agree that I am just doing what is best for my brand. I need to look out for my family and my legacy, and right now that means doing what is best for Nick Claussen.
