Here are some of the results of our discussion: Continue reading “I have no reason to believe that the dog would have peed on the floor”

Tales of a good and bad summer weekend

It was a good news/bad news kind of weekend. Here are a few examples:

Along with trimming the hedges, I also trimmed the poison ivy hidden in the backyard. I feel pretty itchy about it

It finally stopped raining and it looks beautiful outside.

It’s too hot to actually go outside. It’s so hot that when I was taking a shower earlier today, I ran out of cold water. Continue reading “Tales of a good and bad summer weekend”

That topic, of course, is chip clips. I’m sure most of you have been thinking about this topic as well.

I love the way chip clips help to keep bags of chips fresh, but even more than that, I love the name Chip Clip.

Chip clip, chip clip, chip clip!

Ore or oar? A family of words with the same sounds but different spellings

One interesting and occasionally frustrating part of the English language involves words that sound exactly the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings.

These words are homophones and according to the people over there, they’re their favorite types of words.

Personally I’d like to carve these words into stone, but would wood be better? I recently noticed that one family of words seems to have won the homophones championship, and I asked myself, “Is this something people want to know? No or yes?” Continue reading “Ore or oar?
